the problem: due to a malfunctioning powertrain controller, in rare instances, the affected vehicles will exhibit an used engine stall during deceleration, most often while slowing to a stop, increasing the risk of a crash.

jeep manufacturer fiat chrysler automobiles said the used engine may be immediately restarted if a stall occurs. it also said that it's unaware of any related accidents or injuries.

the fix: dealers will reflash the powertrain controller for free.
