Core Policy:

 

A "Core Charge" is a deposit for the value of the core that is paid at the time you make the purchase. Core Charges are usually collected for items such as engines, transmissions, transfer cases, turbo's, superchargers, and fuel injectors. The Core Charge is refundable after we receive your old rebuildable core back. To receive full core credit, the core you return must be the same model and part number as what was purchased. There is generally not a problem with core refunds.

But if you are unsure if your core will meet our core return policy, then please call our parts department before you place your order.

Cores should be shipped back to us within 30 days of purchase in the original container that the used/rebuilt part was received in. The shipping cost for the return of the core is the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise noted.

Warranty and Return policy:

 

Sharper Edge Engines warrants to their original buyers that each used item sold is protected from defects in material and workmanship when professionally installed and under normal use and service for the period of time and distance to the terms and conditions as following unless otherwise noted:

  1. Terms:

A) Sharper Edge Engines, at its option, can either repair or replace the defective unit only Used Engines. Ninety days and unlimited miles (unless otherwise noted) on parts only from the date of delivery. No warranty is covered on any attached accessories and parts such as manifolds, carburetor, distributor, alternator, starter, water pump, thermostat, clutch, flywheel, timing belt of belt-driving engine and all seals etc.

B) No warranty is offered on Mazda rotary, high performance, and racing engines or transmissions.

C) Used Transmissions: Ninety days from the date of delivery on parts only. Electrical switches, wiring system, shifting linkage, and torque converter is not guaranteed.

D) Due to the materials and composition of powertrain (engine, transmission, transfer case) components, we do not warranty against surface rust that may accrue over time, if it does not affect the overall performance of the product sold. There is a reasonable expectation that surfaces rust will form no matter if the product is stored on a shelf or left in the donor vehicle until the time of sale.

 

     II) Customer's Obligations:

 

A) Customer must install new oil, oil filter, thermostat, spark plugs, coolant and tune up parts.

B) Customer must rod out radiator, change new water hoses, water pump, all seals, and gaskets before installation.

C) Due to the variations and design on some models of Japanese version engines, the customer is required to make necessary changes over on some parts such as change oil pan and oil pick up tube, dipstick, fly wheel, clutch assembly, distributor and smog device, etc.

D) Customer is responsible to re-install all smog devices.

E) All belt-driving engines are required to install a new timing belt and set the right timing before installation is done. See limitation

F) Check and adjust valve clearance and tune up.

G) Customer is responsible to verify parts for fitness, proper size, and application prior to installation. We assume no liability for parts incorrectly installed as the result of errors in ordering, packing, and shipping.

H) A certified ASE certified mechanic must install and approve of the installation process.

I) Warranty claims must first be filed with a representative from Sharper Edge Engines which will then assign a Return Authorization Number (RAN) to the case before the product can be returned. The customer agrees to return the product in the same condition and assembly as it was delivered.

J) Engine to be installed within 30 days of delivery unless noted

     III) Limitations:

This warranty shall not apply to or include any of the following:

A) Repair or replacement as a result of any accident, misuse, collision, upset, fire, negligence, alteration, racing events, improper installation, or repair.

B) Labor cost, downtime, towing charges, freight charges, rental and comprehensive insurance claims, etc.

C) Oil leaks, blown head gasket, and overheating due to poor cooling system.

D) Bent valves, lock up, or backfire due to broken timing belt or wrong timing set. New timing must be installed on all belt-driving engines before installation.

E) Internal damage caused by dropping obstacles into combustion chambers. The internal components of the long block assembly that are covered are the Pistons, Piston Rings, Piston Pins, Crankshaft, and Main Bearings, Connecting Rods and Rod Bearings, Camshaft and Camshaft Bearings, Timing Chain and Timing Gears, Intake and Exhaust Valves, Valve Springs, Oil Pump, Push Rods, Rocker Arms, Hydraulic Lifters, and Rocker Arm Shafts. The Engine Block and Cylinder Heads are only covered if damaged by a part listed above.

 

Remanufactured Engines and Transmissions Warranty and Policy:

 

Sharper Edge Engines LLC LIMITED WARRANTY:

 

Subject to the following terms and conditions:

 

Sharper Edge Engines LLC’s remanufactured engines warrants to the original purchaser that the engine sold by Sharper Edge Engines LLC shall be free of defects in material and workmanship under normal use and with periodical maintenance as set forth by the original manufacturer.

 

**Customer must complete a warranty registration form to activate the warranty**

 

 I. Definitions:

 

“Engines”:  As used in this warranty, “engine” refers to the remanufactured long block assembly (basic block, cylinder head or heads, and internal components within the basic  block assembly) as installed by Sharper Edge Engines LLC. The term “engine” specifically does not include the transmission or any part thereof, the carburetion or fuel injection system, the heating and air condition system, points, plugs, condenser, fuel or water pumps, or any other part compromising any other portion of your vehicle’s engine.

 

“Long Block” as referred to in this warranty consists of the cylinder block, internal rotating assembly, and cylinder head or heads only. The “long block” does not include any external parts such as manifolds, turbo chargers, fuel distribution system, electrical system including computers, timing cover, oil pan, flywheel, balancer, balancer shaft assembly, timing belts and tensioners, etc.

 

“Engine Failure” is the failure of the remanufactured long block assembly as built and installed by Sharper Edge Engines LLC for reasons other than those excepted elsewhere in this limited warranty.

 

II.  Disclaimer of Implied Warranties

 

EXCEPT FOR THE Sharper Edge Engines LLC LIMITED WARRANTY (AS SPECIFIED BELOW IN PARAGRAPHS 5 AND 6), THERE ARE NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ARISING BY OPERATION OF LAW OTHERWISE.  Sharper Edge Engines LLC DISCLAIMS THE IMPLIED WARRATNY OF MERCHANTABILITY AND THE IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSES AS TO ALL PRODUCTS SHIPPED AND/OR SOLD BY BRE.  OUR LIMITED WARRANTY SHALL EXTEND ONLY TO THE BUYER OF THE Sharper Edge Engines LLC REMANUFACTURED ENGINE AND SHALL NOT EXTEND TO ANY PARTY BENEFICIARY.  THE LIMITED WARRANTY BELOW SHALL NOT BE TRANSFERRED BY THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER. PRODUCTS INSTALLED AND/OR USED ARE NOT ELLIGABLE FOR RETURN.

 

III.  Warranty Claim Reimbursement

 

1.  All field repair labor will be paid based on ALLDATA Warranty Flat Rate labor guide, at a rate of $55.00 per hour, to ASE certified mechanics working out of an actual licensed automotive facility.  Maximum field repair labor paid is $550.00.

 

2.  All do-it-yourself (“DIY”)/shade tree mechanic/side-work/ moonlighter claims will be paid at a rate of $15.00 per hour, based on ALLDATA Warranty Labor estimating guide, Maximum DIY labor is paid $150.00

 

3.  Sharper Edge Engines LLC will only cover one hour of diagnostic time, unless otherwise authorized by Sharper Edge Engines LLC.

 

4.  Sharper Edge Engines LLC reserves the right to provide all parts required to make authorized repairs

 

5.  Cylinder Head Failure: Sharper Edge Engines LLC reserves the right to repair or replace “defective’ cylinder heads and provide all parts necessary to complete the repair, with labor paid as outlined in Item #1 above.

 

6.  Engine Failure:  In the event a Sharper Edge Engines LLC engine fails (as defined herein) in the field, BRE will repair or replace the engine at our option.  The purchaser must return the engine to Sharper Edge Engines LLC, freight prepaid, or authorize charges to purchaser’s credit card to cover said freight charges.

Replacement engine warranty labor rates are paid at $55.00 per hour, with maximum payment for labor of $550.00.

All authorized warranty repairs MUST be completed within 30 days of authorization or authorization will be revoked.

 

IV. Terms of Limited Warranty

 

 PASSENGER CARS AND LIGHT TRUCKS

 

Long Block-3 years warranty except For: Hummer H3,

Mazda,

Kia,

Hyundai,

Jaguar,

Land Rover,

BMW,

Audi,

Mercedes and

Volkswagen.

These Engines will have one year parts replacement warranty unless noted. (Ask us about our extended warranty).

 

TRUCKS ONE TON AND GREATER & TURBO CHARGED VEHICLES have:

LONG BLOCK – 1 year/unlimited miles                                                            

 

MARINE APPLICATION (non-commercial):
LONG BLOCK – 1 year/unlimited hours                                                            

 

INDUSTRIAL APPLICATION:

 

LONG BLOCK – 18 months/100,000 miles, whichever comes first.            

 

DIESEL (Passenger car and light truck):

 

LONG BLOCK – 3 years/100,000 miles, whichever comes first.                   

 

V. Remanufactured Engines Warranty Coverage Terms and Conditions:

 

The warranty covers only defects in our workmanship, or materials supplied by Sharper Edge Engines LLC on long block assemblies.

 

To qualify for warranty, registration card must be filled out and mailed (CERTIFIED MAIL) within 5 days of signing shipping receipt from the freight company delivering the engine.

 

Sharper Edge Engines LLC reserves the right to either authorize repair or replacement under warranty.

No work will be covered under Sharper Edge Engines LLC warranty unless the work is authorized.

When repairs are made, replacement parts will be supplied by Sharper Edge Engines LLC, whenever possible or practical.

 

Before any engine or part of the long block assembly is pulled out of chasis for warranty diagnostic, a letter authorizing the removal must be received from Sharper Edge Engines LLC.

Any unauthorized removal of the long bock assembly or part of the long block assembly will NOT be covered under the warranty.

 

After Sharper Edge Engines LLC authorizes specific engine repairs or part replacements, the persons/company doing the repairs are responsible from that point on for the repair/installation work performed. 

Only engine parts supplied by Sharper Edge Engines LLC will be warranted.

 

receipt is signed. Timing belts are covered under this warranty for only the first (60) days following the date the shipping receipt is signed. Water pumps carry a one year ONLY warranty. Broken crankshafts are not covered under warranty.

 

Please make sure to use Synthetic mobile oil.

 

Sharper Edge Engines LLC requires oil changes at 500 Miles after the installation and then 1000 miles must be performed, or warranty will be void.

 

Every Remanufactured Engine (no matter of Make or Model and no matter what the Driver’s Manual s asking for,) must change the oil in 3000 Miles otherwise warranty is voided.

 

The following are not covered under this warranty: car rental, towing charges, oil, gas, anti-freeze, A/C charge, A/C coolant, oil filters, oil coolers, or any other accessories, loss of time, hotel or motel accommodation, food or freight charges, etc.

 

Oil leaks are covered under this warranty for only the first (60) days following the date the shipping In the event of a warranty claim, customer must furnish receipts as proof that all service and maintenance work pertaining to the long block, such as oil and filter changes, replacement of air filter, coolant, belts, hoses, PCV valve, tune-up and ignition parts, etc. as set forth by the original equipment manufacturer of the customer’s vehicle, has been performed according to schedule. ALL receipts must be imprinted with the repair facility’s name, address, and telephone number and have preprinted repair order numbers or they will not be accepted.  Handwritten receipts are not acceptable. Failure to maintain and service engine in accordance with the original equipment manufactures’ specifications and schedule or failure to retain and furnish all receipts for work performed, including parts and labor will void warranty.

 

In the event of major long block failure, long blocks must be returned to Sharper Edge Engines LLC out of chassis, out of boat, or out of any type of machinery. No replacement engine will be shipped prior to the return of the damaged engine to Sharper Edge Engines LLC. The customer is responsible for all shipping costs.

 

In the event that any provision of this warranty should be or become invalid or unenforceable because of any laws, the remaining terms and condition hereof shall remain in full force and effect.

 

VI. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS

 

Sharper Edge Engines LLC warranty shall not apply in the following circumstances:

 

Engines damaged through tampering, lack of oil or coolant, improper installation, or failure of an auxiliary unit such as oil cooler and lines (if applicable) must be replaced, carburetor, distributor, water pump, thermostat, air cleaner, fuel pump, etc.

Head gasket failure due to engine overheating and/or detonation, abuse or misuse.

Damage resulting from pre-ignition or pre-detonation. This includes, but is not limited to melted pistons, broken pistons rings, damaged cylinder heads, leaking head gaskets, etc.

Engines used as stationary engines, racing or HI performance engines, in snowplows, ambulances, rescue vehicles, or competition and similar uses.

Where crankshaft thrust bearing failure occurs in vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions and the failure is due to faulty torque converters, cracked flex hoses, or improper installation of the transmission.

Where crankshaft thrust bearing failure occurs in vehicles equipped with standard transmissions and the failure is due to faulty transmission installation or improper clutch adjustment.

 

Broken crankshafts

 

Damage caused by fragments, screws, and other foreign materials entering the long block through the intake manifold.

Failure to replace oil coolers and flushing radiators.

Damage due to misuse, neglect, accident, or abuse (i.e., over-revving, overheating, debris, etc.).

Damage due to overly rich or lean fuel mixture.

Damage occurring to the engine as a result of overheating, lack of lubrication, contamination, or foreign matter entering engine.

Heat tabs that are melted or missing from engine

If your vehicle is a Class A motor home or truck 11,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW).

Any product to which a device or accessory not conforming to the original manufacturer’s specification has been installed. (i.e., after market headers, hand held tuner devices and/or any aftermarket performance enhancing devices)

Damage as a result of electrolysis, including but not limited to deterioration of engine components as a result of excessive electrical current or improperly maintained coolant, and/or any product on which periodic maintenance services required by the original manufacturer have not been performed.

When the long block assembly is not the same as the original equipment. For example, a 400 cubic inch Chevrolet engine is sometimes substituted for a 350 cubic inch engine and vice versa. Since the operating characteristics of the substituted long block differs from the original, the component parts such as cylinder heads, carburetor, air breathing system, etc. do not correspond to the long block being substituted and failure can result.

The Sharper Edge Engines LLC warranty does not cover any failure caused by any components not supplied as part of any long purchased.

Our warranty does not cover any failures or problems caused by improper installation, abuse, or failure to maintain routine maintenance or by improper clutch or torque convertor adjustment.

Our warranty does not cover engines converted to Alternate Fuels

Our warranty does not cover the engines that are not installed within sixty (60) days of date the shipping receipt is signed.

 

VII. Limitations of Liability

 

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Sharper Edge Engines LLC shall not be liable to the buyer, or any other party, for incidental, consequential or any other indirect loss or damage or for lost profits of revenues of any kind, at any time and for any reason, arising out of this agreement or any other obligation resulting from this agreement, whether the action arises out of breach of contract, tort, fraud, or any other theory or basis.

 

VIII. Forum Selection Clause and Choice of Law:

 

THIS AGREEMENT SHALL BE GOVERNED BY LAWS OF FLORIDA.  IN THE EVENT THE COURT DETERMINS THAT ANY PROVISIONS OF THIS WARRANTY IS UNENFORCEABLE OR INVALID, THE REMAINING TERMS SHALL BE ENFORCEABLE AND VALID.

 

In the event customer fails to pay for materials and services rendered or otherwise breaches the contract and the matter is referred to an attorney, customer shall be obligated to pay to SHARPER EDGE ENGINES LLC ALL costs of collections, including 33% attorney’s fees and finance charges of 1.5% per month (annual rate of 18%). The warranty provided by Sharper Edge Engines LLC shall be governed by the laws of Florida. The parties agree that the exclusive venue for any action related to the work, payment, warranty or any matter regarding the dealings of the parties shall be in the Dual country, City of Jacksonville, Florida.  In the event any party brings any action in a different venue, such party shall be liable to Sharper Edge Engines LLC for all damages, including but not limited to:  the amount of any judgment obtained in any venue other than Jacksonville, FL and all attorney fees incurred in defending the action in another venue or bringing suit for damages as a result of the breach. Returned Checks (or payment of any kind or form that is rejected or reversed) shall incur an additional fee of $50.00 per item regardless of the reason(s)

 

Merger Clause

 

This agreement constitutes the entire agreement among the parties and supersedes any previous communications between Sharper Edge Engines LLC and the buyer with respects to Barnette’s Remanufactured Engines.

 

X.  Waiver:

 

Any failure or delay in exercising any right or remedy will not constitute a waiver.

 

XI. Late Delivery:

 

Sharper Edge Engines LLC will not be liable for late delivery of any Sharper Edge Engines LLC Remanufactured Engine, including any replacement engine provided pursuant to the Limited Warranty.

 

 XII.  Notice of Claim:

 

Any buyer, who wishes to make a claim pursuant to the Limited Warranty, shall provide notice to Sharper Edge Engines LLC

 

 

RETURNS / CANCELLATIONS:

 

Prior to any further negotiations including refunds, We reserve the right to have a third party inspection.

 

RETURNS:

In the event, the customer cancels the order after the product has shipped, the customer will be liable for all shipping charges and a 30% restocking fee. Any damages to the  delivered product must be reported within 24 hours so that a claim may be started with the freight company. All legal litigations will be held in Jacksonville, Florida.

 

CANCELLATIONS for Remanufactured Engines:

Due to the Parts ordered and work involved any cancellation on a Remanufactured Engine will be subjected to a 30% restocking fee and 6% credit card charge fee.

 

 

CANCELLATIONS For Used Engines:

Sharper Edge Engines is Required to pay a processing fee when a customer's card is charged. This fee ranges from 6% to 10% depending upon the type of credit card being used. In the event, a customer cancels the order after the credit card/s has been charged. A processing fee of up to 10% will be deducted from the total returned credit. If Sharper Edge Engines cancels the order the processing fee will not be deducted from the total refunded credit.

 

 

USED ENGINE LIMITED WARRANTY AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:

 

Failing to follow any of the terms below will cause to void Warranty:

 

PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLATION:

 

All used engines are sold as long block engine assemblies; a long block is defined as:

Cylinder heads, engine block, and all internal components. All bolt on accessories left on the long block engine assembly are not covered by warranty unless otherwise stated on the sales order and are left on the long block engine to be used at customers discretion. Some engines sold will require you to use parts of your old engine, these change over parts will sometimes cost you additional labor to be switched, Sharper Edge Engines is not responsible for the labor cost to have the changeover parts switched.

 

 

PRE-INSTALLATION INSPECTION:

 

Inspect engine prior to delivery driver leaving, if any damage is found please inform driver and note the delivery ticket and notify Sharper Edge Engines. If engine is severally damaged, immediately notify Sharper Edge Engines.

Identify that correct long block engine assembly was shipped to you; look at both engines to do this. If it looks like the long block engine assemblies are different notify your salesperson at Auto Part Maxim mediately.

After removing your old engine, place it next to the replacement engine and identify which parts need to be changed over.

Inspect timing components on engine, if miles are over factory specification for a timing belt or chain, replace timing components.

Inspect all gaskets for bolt on accessories and replace any gaskets that look brittle or are leaking.

Change over any bolt on accessories needed off your old engine.

Do not install engine with damaged parts on it, such as oil pan, timing cover, engine mounts, valve covers, or manifolds. If engine is installed with damaged parts and they cause the engine to fail prematurely the Warranty Is Void.

 

 

Installation Instructions:

 

Engine to be installed within 30 days of delivery unless noted

 

Flush cooling system prior to installing engine to remove any debris left over from previous engine.

 

Clean or replace oil strainer and pick screen.

Replace oil pan gasket & rear main seal.

Drain & Replace engine oils to manufactures suggested levels.

Replace oil filter.

Timing belts, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, fluids, and seals are routine maintenance items and should be replaced at the time of installation and at the vehicle manufacturer's recommended service intervals.

Replace any water hoses or vacuum lines that need replacing.

Prior to starting engine prime oil system and check to be sure you have oil pressure.

Proper operation of the cooling and electrical system must be checked during the installation of products that can be affected by those systems.

Replace valve cover gasket as needed.

Install new belts and hoses.

 

Automatic Transmission Limited Warranty & Installation Procedures:

 

Thank you for purchasing this quality used automatic transmission. Not only have you saved a considerable amount of money over a new part, but you are helping the environment by recycling.

Prior to the installation of your recycled used transmission, we suggest that you perform the following pre-installation maintenance.

By performing the pre-installation maintenance, you will prolong the life of your recycled transmission and protect your warranty.

This used automatic transmission comes with a warranty as stated on your sales order and is valid under normal driving conditions.

Prior to the installation of your recycled used transmission, we suggest that you perform the following pre-installation maintenance.

By performing the pre-installation maintenance, you will prolong the life of your recycled transmission and protect your warranty.

This used manual transmission comes with a warranty as stated on your sales order and is valid under normal driving conditions.

 

PRE-INSTALLATION MAINTENANCE:

 

REPLACE CLUTCH

REPLACE THROW OUT BEARING

REPLACE PILOT BEARING

REPLACE AXLE OR DRIVE SHAFT SEAL

DRAIN GEAR LUBES AND FILL TO MANUFACTURERS SPECIFICATIONS

INSPECT & ADJUST OR REPLACE SHIFTER LINKAGES

INSPECT AND REPLACE, IF NEEDED, TRANSMISSION & ENGINE MOUNTS.
