on this episode of window shop with car and driver, we tasked our editors to search the internet for $5000 convertibles. they only sort of completed the task in that all the cars chosen were convertibles. now, what they found might not be the best fit for you, but it did give them plenty to talk and laugh about. you might be surprised that the mazda miata didn't make anyone's list, but it was deemed too obvious. instead, you'll see a toyota mr2, an early audi tt roadster, an r129 mercedes 300sl from the '90s, and even chrysler's tc by maserati makes an appearance. there are a few more surprises, but you'll have to watch to see them.
if you're looking for a mobile tanning machine on a budget, you might get something out of this video. otherwise, you might just learn something esoteric about a weird car that you can use to impress your friends at the next cars and coffee get-together.
