Volkswagen I.D. Space Vizzion Concept Looks a Lot Like a Wagon to Us
  • the newest volkswagen i.d. concept looks a lot like a station wagon to us.
  • called the i.d. space vizzion, it's being previewed ahead of its debut at the l.a. auto show later this month.
  • volkswagen says it will reach production in 2021 and be sold in north america.

ignore volkswagen's inscrutable description of its newest electric concept car, which says that it's "a crossover of tomorrow that combines the aerodynamic characteristics of a gran turismo with the spaciousness of an suv." it's clear to us from these teaser sketches that this latest member of the i.d. family is a wagon, plain and simple. and what's even better is that vw says it will reach production in late 2021.

set to make its debut at the l.a. auto show, this concept is called the volkswagen i.d. space vizzion, and it follows numerous all-electric i.d. concepts before it including the i.d. buzz (a preview of the upcoming microbus), the i.d. crozz (an upcoming small suv), and the i.d. vizzion (a luxury sedan). like those others, the space vizzion is based on vw's new meb electric platform and boasts an estimated epa driving range of 300 miles.

we'll find out more details when volkswagen pulls the cover off for real in a few weeks, and we can't wait to see what this electric wagon looks like in the flesh.
