  • mopar's sema show truck, the ram 1500 rebel otg (which stands for off the grid), has a winch in the front, a refrigerator in the back, and a bed above it for longer, more remote road trips.
  • 35-inch goodyear mt/r with kevlar tires help avoid common sidewall punctures from rough trails.
  • solar panels provide charging for battery-powered accessories.

the ram 1500 rebel otg (off the grid) concept is a win-win for anyone with a spouse threatening to kick them out if they buy another truck. love hurts. for next week's sema show, mopar teamed up with some big outdoor companies to put together a go-anywhere-and-stay-out-there pickup.

the rebel 1500 otg's bed is full of just about every accessory someone enjoying a week under the stars could ever need. the yakima bed rack holds both the rooftop tent above and a bunch of equipment underneath it. a collapsible awning spreads across the rear and the passenger side of the truck to help campers out in severe sunshine or rain conditions. mounted to the rack is a propane tank for the gas-powered stove, a fire extinguisher to shut the flames off, and even a battery-powered dometic refrigerator. its 60/40 tailgate opens up to allow use of the fridge and a pull-out drawer system that holds a cutting board, the sink, and more utensil storage.

what's the difference between camping and overlanding anyway? some might ask. well, does a tent have 4-lo to get it into places no truck has ever gone before, and recovery tools to give you a second chance at the same mistake all over again? this one does. the roof of the cab also holds a set of tredpro recovery boards, a small array for solar panels, and a road shower 4 water tank to provide hot high-pressure showers. if the trail ahead requires lower tire pressure for increased off-road grip, air down without worrying, as there's also an onboard air compressor to fill tires back up.

a handful of mopar concept accessories tease future available products like the custom steel front bumper with the same 10,000-pound warn winch found on the ram 2500 power wagon with four high-power led off-road lights mounted above it. the front-grille has been widened, and the large ram in the center features a flow-through design. the otg's snorkel intake helps keep the engine safe from dusty trails or exceptionally tall puddles (known as ponds depending on depth) from causing problems. the rear bumper is adapted from tradesman models and features square led lighting as well as a design that improves departure angle by relocating the exhaust outlet.

under the hood is ram's turbocharged 3.0-liter v-6 ecodiesel engine, rated at 480 lb-ft of torque. the fuel tank was also expanded from the 26-gallon capacity of the ram 1500 rebel to 33 gallons for the otg concept, which helps increase how far outdoor adventures can go between fuel-ups. mopar added its concept two-inch lift kit and 35-inch goodyear mt/r with kevlar tires wrapped around beadlock wheels to help strengthen the rebel otg's off-road durability.

this is only one of 14 customized vehicles mopar will have on display at the 2019 sema show next week.
