next-generation racing is here. this past june we got the very first peek at gran turismo 7 during sony's future of gaming event, showcasing the playstation 5 next-generation console.
only a few minutes of gameplay were shown, but as expected, this simulator is still a gorgeous intricate replication of real cars and the various forms of racing of which they partake.
as in other titles, gran turismo 7's campaign mode menu is displayed as a 3d map across the screen. the familiar photo mode scapes is back, and by the looks of it so are tuning parts, used cars, missions, special events, and others. sony also previewed the trial mountain circuit, a track that's been around since the first gran turismo in 1997.
the gameplay shown is a spitting image of the current gran turismo sport head-up display that features everything from the tachometer and mileage to live data on the level of brake and acceleration applied. it looks like gt sport, as does the upper menu of campaign mode. daily mileage, total credits, experience, and time are all clearly displayed at the very top, as well as some brief details about which car you have selected.
some new additions to campaign mode appear to be gt cafe, gt auto, and gt world. we've got our fingers crossed that the days of changing your oil for a mysterious bump in horsepower are back.
sony's playstation 5 uses the magic of quicker and more advanced hardware than the console it supersedes. 4k video will be supported, and processing speeds that are said to make older generations look as though they're standing still when compared. the playstation 5 goes on sale november 12 in the u.s., canada, japan, mexico, australia, new zealand, and korea; everywhere else in the world, the wait is one week longer.
