novitec, the german tuning company known for producing the ferrari 812 n-largo, have upgraded the lightweight, track-focused mclaren senna with three different levels of tuning specifications. with the highest engine tune, novitec claims that the senna will reach 62 mph in 2.7 seconds.
the mclaren senna comes from the factory powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter v-8 that produces 789 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. novitec uses a piggyback ecu to run a new engine management map—otherwise known as a "tune"—for improvements in horsepower and torque. at its highest stage, the novitec senna will produce 889 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 655 lb-ft of torque at 6,300 rpm.
in addition to the ecu, the novitec sennas are equipped with novitec's race gtr high-performance exhaust system, and the exhaust can be equipped to sennas without the engine tune, too. the two top-exit exhaust pipes can be had with either a polished stainless or a matte black finish.
during our testing, the factory-spec senna launched to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds. it then took 5.0 seconds to bring up 100 mph, and another 5.4 seconds to get to 150 mph. novitec claims that with its engine tune, the senna will reach 62 mph in 2.7 seconds and 124 mph in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 208 mph. the track-focused mclaren named after aryton senna is also the fastest car in c/d lightning lap history, lapping virginia international raceway (vir) in 2:34.9.
the aggressive bodywork and aerodynamics of the mclaren senna are untouched by novitec. however, vossen 20- and 21-inch center-lock wheels are wrapped in pirelli p zero tires. customers can choose from a variety of 72 brushed or polished colors for the wheels and can fully customize the car's interior with leather and alcantara as well.
