- the defender stopped being sold in the u.s. in 1997 but will make a return to the market early next year.
the 2020 land rover defender was first spotted this summer on the set of the next james bond movie without its camouflage, and now it has been confirmed that the four-door model will be featured in one of the legendary chase sequences in no time to die, the bond movie, set to be released in april 2020.
it’s unclear if the chase the new defender will appear in will take place off road, but a video released by land rover shows the stunt crew from the movie putting the car through particularly rough tests off pavement. either way, that's a setting the defender has been built for. the 2020 model has fully independent suspension, notable approach and departure angles, and a maximum clearance that beats out the jeep wrangler rubicon.
the sale of the defender was originally ended in the u.s. in 1997, but early next year deliveries of the 2020 defender will begin of the four-door version, the 110. the two-door will become available in late 2020.
