they say everything is bigger in texas, but that idea could just as easily apply to the chicago auto show, which has a history of displaying xxl-sized trucks on its massive show floor. the 2019 show promises to be no different — both in terms of the size of trucks on display and their significance in the market.
after largely focusing on their light-duty lineups in recent years, the domestic truck brands are poised to make 2019 the year of the heavy-duty pickup. ram introduced redesigned versions of its 2500 and 3500 heavy-duty trucks at the north american international auto show in detroit, and chevrolet and ford are bringing new versions of the silverado hd and f-series super duty, respectively, to chicago.
the toyota tacoma pickup truck is considerably smaller than those behemoths, but it's no less significant; it was the best-selling mid-size truck last year by a wide margin. show goers in chicago will be among the first to see updates it gets for the 2020 model year, too.

2020 chevrolet silverado 2500 and 3500
bigger and bolder than their predecessors, the redesigned 2020 chevrolet silverado 2500 and 3500 pickups pack a more powerful standard gas used engine , new camera-centric technology to make trailering less stressful and greater capability with maximum towing capacity of up to 35,500 pounds with a gooseneck trailer. the standard used engine is a new 401-horsepower, 6.6-liter v-8, while the available turbo-diesel 6.6-liter v-8 is still rated at 445 hp and 910 pounds-feet of torque. the diesel v-8 does, however, team with a new allison 10-speed automatic transmission, and it's this drivetrain combo that provides the eye-popping towing capability.
2020 ford f-series super duty
ford has given its f-series super duty a light styling refresh for the 2020 model year, as well as some significant updates under its all-aluminum sheet metal that, like the silverado 2500 and 3500, are focused on power and trailering. while the standard gas 6.2-liter v-8 used engine carries over, there's a newly available gas 7.3-liter v-8 and an updated turbo-diesel 6.6-liter v-8. horsepower and torque figures for the used engine weren't announced, but ford did say a new 10-speed automatic transmission will be available. ford's pro trailer backup assist joins the super duty lineup, and the system is designed to work with fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers as well as conventional ones.
