Learn How to Remove the Ford Broncos Doors and Roof, and See Cool Features
  • the 2021 ford bronco's doors and roof can be removed, similar to the jeep wrangler and gladiator, but its fenders can also easily come off.
  • a tool kit is included in the bronco's glovebox that has everything owners will need to get the open-air experience.
  • this is a two-door badlands model equipped with the off-road-focused sasquatch package. the two- and four-door broncos go on sale in the summer.

it's no secret that the 2021 ford bronco is after the jeep wrangler. to truly compete with the popular off-roader, the doors and roof can come off the new bronco, too, but owners can also remove the fender flares, grille, front fender, and quarter-panel to swap them out and customize their rig. there are also a few other cool features on the bronco, such as hidden logos and loads of off-road equipment. we got our hands on a 2021 bronco badlands two-door model equipped with the sasquatch off-road package to see what the revived off-roader is all about.

to remove the bronco's doors and roof, you'll need to use the provided tools that are found in a cloth case that's inside the glovebox. there's even a bronco logo on the case. the tool kit includes a 1/4-inch drive ratchet and the necessary attachments. once all the hardware is removed from the truck, it can be stored in a small zip-up compartment inside the kit.

on the bronco, there are two bolts on each door that need to be removed as well as a wiring harness that needs to be unplugged and then plugged back in once the door is removed. make sure to lower the windows before removal as well. a perk of the bronco's door removal is that the mirrors stay attached to the truck—the jeep's come off with the doors. there's a handle underneath the door to help lift it off the hinges more easily.

the two-door hardtop bronco badlands has three roof panels (four-door hardtops have four, though a soft top is standard on the four-door models). on the two-door, the front two roof panels are fairly easy to remove. you'll need to start with the driver's side, just releasing a few latches, and then move to the passenger's side. the rear roof shell requires four bolts on each side of the base to be removed. two people are required to lift the rear shell off.

the bronco's fender flares are extremely simple to remove. there are five plastic latches underneath each one, and once they are all undone, just snap it off. the rear quarter-panel and front fender are a little more complicated compared to everything else, and not all the tools needed are included in the tool kit. to remove the front fender, the grille needs to be removed, and to remove the rear quarter panel, the blind-spot monitor needs to be taken off briefly to access the remaining bolts.

we also spotted a few cool features on the bronco, but you'll have to watch the video to see those.
