the list of vehicles that the urus trounces at vir is substantial and it starts with the porsche cayenne turbo, which also ran at lightning lap this year—albeit 3.4 seconds less rapid than the lambo. the previous suv record at lightning lap, set in 2018, was held by the mercedes-amg glc 63 s coupe at 3:01.7. however, the urus is also quicker than the 2011 porsche 911 gt3, the 2008 dodge viper srt10, and the 2007 corvette z06.
just like all modern cars, the urus benefits from contemporary rubber; its optional pirelli p zero corsas made 1.02 g in our road test. they are, however, the same tires that the cayenne turbo wore this year so there's no denying that it's king of the suvs at lightning lap.
