for 2021, the f-type gets a sleeker front end, with narrower headlights that are mounted lower than before, along with a redesigned hood and front fascia. the front-end redesign gives the car a lower and wider look, further accentuating that sexy attitude. the rear retains the same design cues as the first f-type that came out six years ago.
there are now only four trims offered: p300, first edition p300, r-dynamic p380, and r. the svr model got the ax for 2021, but its engine lives on under the hood of the r. for 2021, the p300 and first edition p300 are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four producing 296 horsepower. the r-dynamic p380 gets jaguar land rover's supercharged 3.0-liter v-6. the top-level r trim gets a supercharged 5.0-liter v-8 from the now discontinued svr. it makes 575 horsepower, a gain of 25 hp from last year's model.
the interior gets its fair share of updates as well, with a new 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a larger 10.0-inch infotainment screen. the screen adds an updated edition of jlr’s incontrol pro software. the f-type doesn’t get the dual screen found in many new jlr products, retaining the conventional climate controls that have been found in the car for the past few years.
all of the changes would seem to justify a price hike, so it's a pleasant surprise that there wasn't one. the rear-wheel-drive p300 coupe starts at $62,625, the same as in 2020. the new-for-2021 first edition p300 coupe, which is also rear-wheel drive, comes in at $74,125. the all-wheel-drive r-dynamic coupe has a price of $82,025, which is actually a drop of $3300 from last model year. the most powerful r coupe gets a price hike of $1400 from the 2020 model and starts at $104,225. all four f-type models can be had in convertible form as well, with the upcharge ranging from $2700 to $3100 depending on the trim you select.
