the new transmission is an eight-speed dual-clutch unit, and we assume it's the same transmission that's being used in the upcoming sonata n-line. the instagram post shows paddle shifters on the steering wheel, a cool-looking shift knob, and a display in the gauge cluster that shows a "grin shift" mode. we have no idea what that means, but it sounds fun. the teaser also shows interesting-looking light-up seat inserts that may be a new option for the veloster n.

the veloster n's sole engine option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four with either 250 horsepower or 275 hp with the optional performance package. this dual-clutch transmission might help improve acceleration compared with the manual car, which did zero to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds in our testing.

we look forward to hearing more about the dual-clutch model, which we expect to be offered for the 2021 veloster n. this updated version should arrive in the u.s. sometime later this year.
