we expect the new tucson to grow a bit with this redesign, as it currently resides on the smaller end of its segment. it will likely share mechanical components with hyundai's recently redesigned elantra and sonata sedans, including powertrains. we'd guess the tucson will offer the sonata's 2.5-liter inline-four as its base engine and a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four as an upgrade. a hybrid may join the lineup, too. we also wouldn't put it past hyundai to offer some sort of sporty n-line version of the tucson, given that a full-bore n performance version of the smaller kona crossover is in the works.
