  • Among a slew of other strange available options, you can make your Tesla make fart noises, which we had to test out.
  • The Tesla Model 3 screen offers the driver six farts to choose from, or the option to randomize the six offered.
  • No, we can't believe this is real, either.

Elon Musk has a well-documented history of doing whatever he wants, whenever he wants, from the very consequential tweet of saying that he was considering taking Tesla private to selling a flamethrower. And in more than one way, that attitude has extended to his cars.

Thanks to Musk and the unique minds at Tesla, our long-term test Model 3 comes equipped with a feature which allows us to change our turn signal to a farting noise—six different kinds of farts, in fact. The seventh option rotates the farts. From the “Short Shorts Ripper” to the “Boring Fart,” the options are plentiful, if a little disturbing.

If you assumed that we wasted no time in testing out this feature, you’d be right. The option is somewhat inconspicuous, as it is located under the “ToyBox” menu, which can then be accessed through tapping on the whoopee cushion. The driver can also set where the fart noise comes from, so it can emanate from the driver, or any of the passengers.

In October, Elon Musk opened up the possibility of adding a fart sound (among other noises) to the Tesla's horn. There isn't a law regulating what horns need to sound like—although California law does state that "no horn shall emit an unreasonably loud or harsh sound"— but with Musk opening up the possibility of a customizable horn noise option, a more specific law may become necessary.

If you have any suggestions to what sounds Tesla should add to the repertoire, tweet it at Elon Musk. The odds are in your favor that he'll see it.
