  • riptide bait and tackle on the jersey shore had a good collection of photos of non-4x4 cars taken after they got stuck on the beach, a place they're not supposed to be.
  • the photos have now been put into a calendar which costs $20 or $25 depending on size plus $5 for shipping, with proceeds to charity.
  • a calendar of cool cars might be nice to look at, but it won't make you laugh like this one does.

rules are meant to be broken, they said. driving your two-wheel-drive car onto the beach is fun and cool, they said. you won’t get stuck, they said.

well, some people on the jersey shore broke the rules, maybe had some fun, but then did get stuck in the sand. when their rescuer arrived—capt. andy grossman or one of the members of the brigantine beach 4x4 assist team—they snapped photos of the stuck cars. some of these photos have now found their way into the "beached cars of brigantine" 2020 calendar.

grossman, the owner of riptide bait and tackle in brigantine, new jersey, started a tow service for vehicles stuck on the local beach. four-wheel-drive vehicles are permitted onto brigantine beaches with a permit; two-wheel-drive cars aren't allowed.

grossman or a member of the beach assist crew would take a picture of the non-four-wheel-drive vehicles that get stuck, originally to post them on facebook. grossman would joke that he "got another one for the calendar," he told nj.com, and after someone said he should actually get one made, he did.

images shown on nj.com reveal that the calendar is populated by such cars as a dodge challenger, a chrysler 300, and a toyota prius, and then there's this 2016–2018 bmw 3-series we found on the shop's facebook page. it's really no wonder that those cars got stuck. in our opinion, if anything, this calendar just strengthens the case for mercedes's bounce mode—and for some common sense about what vehicles should (and should never) be driven onto a beach.

the calendar is available for $20 or $25, depending on the size you want, and costs $5 to ship. the proceeds are being donated to true spirit collection, an organization in brigantine that provides meals to needy families. to order, you need to call the bait shop at 609–264–0440, where the owner told car and driver he's already shipping out dozens each day.
