  • Lamborghini has announced its latest V-12-powered hypercar: the track-only, limited-edition SCV12.
  • The naturally aspirated V-12 will be the most powerful from Lamborghini to date, producing more than 830 horsepower.
  • Lamborghini says that the aggressive aerodynamics and huge carbon-fiber rear wing allow for more downforce than a GT3 race car.

Before Lamborghini goes hybrid with the 807-hp Sián, its in-house Lamborghini Centro Stile division is planning this extremely powerful V-12–powered, track-only limited edition hypercar called the SCV12. It'll be capable of more than 830 horsepower, Lamborghini says, and it will be officially unveiled this summer.

The SCV12 reminds us of the stripped out track-only Lamborghini Sesto Elemento from 2010 with its aggressive aerodynamics and huge rear wing. Lamborghini claims that the SCV12's aerodynamics allow for more downforce than a GT3 race car. Dual air intakes on the hood allow for more airflow through the 12-cylinder engine, and the front splitter and custom-built carbon-fiber rear wing help keep the car planted on the track. It sits on 19-inch wheels up front and 20-inch magnesium rims in the rear wrapped in Pirelli rubber.

Lamborghini hasn't shared much about the SCV12's powertrain yet, but did say that it's the most powerful naturally aspirated V-12 the Italian supercar maker has produced to date. Thanks to aerodynamic supercharging at high speeds, Lamborghini says, the engine can produce more than 830 horsepower. All that power is sent rearward through a sequential six-speed gearbox. Currently, the most insane version of the V-12–powered Aventador, the SVJ, spins up 759 horsepower and reaches 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.

The SCV12 will be built by the Lamborghini Squadra Corse motorsports division's factory in Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy, and is slated to be fully unveiled this summer. The select few customers who are lucky enough to purchase Lamborghini's insane track-ready hypercar will get the chance to participate in advanced driving programs at circuits across the world with Squadra Corse engineers and five-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro.
