approximately 59,000 model-year 2018 mitsubishi outlander sport suvs equipped with a forward collision mitigation; and model-year 2018 outlander plug-in-hybrid and eclipse cross suvs, and model-year 2017-18 outlander suvs equipped with an adaptive cruise control and/or an electric parking brake system

the problem: the software for the hydraulic unit's electronic control unit may be incorrect, possibly preventing the intervention of a safety system (such as automatic emergency braking, antilock braking, electronic stability control or the brake auto hold function) when any of these systems is in use, increasing the risk of a crash.

the fix: dealers will update the hydraulic unit ecu software for free.
