bmw and kith, a lifestyle brand founded by ronnie fieg, have come together to create a limited edition 2022 m4 competition, the m4 comp x kith. fieg, as a connoisseur of bmws, personally created the design elements of this m4 competition, of which only 150 will be built.
beyond the looks, the limited-edition m4 comp is as it comes from the factory, with 503 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque from a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter v-6 mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. it comes with all-wheel drive and other optional safety features including driver-assist and infotainment equipment.
beyond that, though, the kith touch is seen throughout the vehicle, much of which is inspired by fieg’s personal e30-generation bmw m3 and an m4 design study. perhaps most notable is that the bmw logo has been altered for this collaboration—which bmw claims is the first time it has done this—to combine the kith logo with the signature bmw roundel badge.
black merino leather embossed with the kith logo adorns the interior of the vehicle, along with the m logo, with its stripes located alongside the kith logo; that same logo also runs across the roof of the m4 comp x kith. the eye-catching m colors offset the black interior and give the vehicle an even racier feel. an interesting touch is the option of a carbon-fiber roof into which the kith/bmw logo is embossed.
"some of my favorite memories from growing up came from going to visit my grandfather and riding around in his bmws in the 1980s," fieg said in a statement. "i remember he had an e21 320i and that his prized possession was a white e30 m3. these moments in my life really shaped my passion for bmw, so working on this project with them has brought everything full circle."
this special edition m4 competition will only be available in three matte colors: frozen black, frozen dark silver, and frozen brilliant white. in addition to the m4 special edition, kith is also offering its own assortment of bmw-branded apparel and accessories. orders open for the m4 competition x kith on october 23 at 11 a.m. et on bmw's website.
