ahead of its debut on september 23, volkswagen posted this video on its twitter feed, revealing the front of the eagerly awaited 2021 id.4 electric crossover. the video shows off the headlamps and startup lighting sequence, which includes a thin element that spans from the lamps to the company logo.
in the tweet, vw declares its new slogan: "electric for the millions, not the millionaires."
while the automaker has not announced an official starting price for the vehicle, we're estimating that it'll start at around $35,000, with the estimated 310-mile range version fetching a higher price. the expected pricing puts it up against electric crossover offerings from hyundai, kia, and tesla. vw also shared an overhead image of the id.4 at a charging station. from this angle we can see the sides of the vehicle and roof. the image does have the disclaimer that we're looking at a production-ready prototype, but it's likely this is the final form of the upcoming electric vehicle.
volkswagen recently showed off the interior of the id.4, which unsurprisingly borrows its minimalistic aesthetic from its smaller ev, the id.3 hatchback that won't be coming here. immediately after the unveiling of the id.4 later this month, vw will open up preorders and take $100 refundable deposits.
