  • the tremor package includes an upgraded suspension, 33-inch all-terrain tires, a rear locking diff, and a four-wheel-drive transfer case from the f-150 raptor.

update 4/30/21: ford has announced that the 2021 ford f-150 tremor will start at $51,200 but did not give pricing details on its three equipment packages.

we're still eagerly awaiting the next-generation f-150 raptor, which we hope has a 700-plus horsepower supercharged v-8 under the hood to compete with the 702-hp ram 1500 trx, but while we wait—and daydream of dune jumping—ford is adding to its off-road-truck portfolio with the f-150 tremor. the off-road package is also available on the f-250, f-350, and ranger and adds lifted suspensions, all-terrain tires, and subtle appearance tweaks to give the trucks more off-road cred.

the f-150 tremor uses ford's 3.5-liter ecoboost v-6 that produces 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque paired with a 10-speed automatic, and it's only available as a supercrew model with a 5.5-foot bed. tremors can tow up to 10,900 pounds with a maximum payload of 1885 pounds, and a 2.0-kw onboard generator is available with dual 120v 20a outlets in the bed. there are three levels of tremor with varying equipment—the new 12.0-inch horizontally oriented touchscreen and 12.0-inch gauge cluster are standard on the highest two levels.

they sit an inch higher in the front and an inch and a half taller in the rear thanks to an upgraded suspension with new shocks. the rear axle is equipped with a locking differential (ford says a torsen front limited-slip differential will be available later), and its four-wheel-drive transfer case is borrowed from the f-150 raptor. a set of matte-finish 18-inch wheels are wrapped with 33-inch general grabber all-terrain tires.

the tremor's front end is more bold with a bulging hood, a blacked-out grille complete with a black ford oval badge and active orange accents, and a front skid plate. the bright orange is also found on the two front recovery hooks, "tremor" rear fender graphics, and front fender and tailgate badging. that bright orange trim flows into the interior as well, where it's found on the seat stitching, floor mats, instrument panel, center console, and doors. the tremor package also includes six auxiliary switches above the rearview mirror for added accessories such as winches and lights.

ford's trail toolbox is available on the f-150 tremor, like the new bronco, and it includes trail control, which is a cruise-control setting for slow trail driving; trail turn assist, which uses torque vectoring to tighten the turn radius; and one-pedal acceleration and braking control. the tremor also has a rock crawl mode that engages the rear locker and turns off stability and traction control, and reduces throttle response.

the 2021 ford f-150 tremor will arrive next summer. pricing has yet to be announced, but we expect the package to cost around $4000.
