2021 Chevrolet Suburban, Tahoe Win Race for Biggest Infotainment Screens
  • the updated and upsized chevrolet suburban and tahoe come with a standard 10-inch touchscreen, two inches bigger than that in the ford expedition.
  • chevy is putting its over-the-air update system into the suvs, a system which is similar to tesla's.
  • the suvs will go on sale in mid-2020 in north america.

the all-new chevrolet tahoe and suburban come with completely revamped infotainment and connectivity choices, which means, of course, more and bigger screens. the suv comes with a standard 10.0-inch touchscreen, which is two inches bigger than the current model has. that screen upgrade effectively places chevy in the lead in the full-size-suv segment when it comes to the race to the biggest screen; the suv's main competitor, the ford expedition, sports a standard 8.0-inch screen.

chevy boasts that the suv, if fully upgraded, can have up to five different screens throughout the car. behind the steering wheel sits a standard 4.2-inch information and instrument cluster; an 8.0-inch screen is available on the higher trim levels, the premier and high country models. also available is a 15.0-inch head-up display.

the last two available screens can be found in the rear-seat media package. this package places two 12.6-inch rear-facing touchscreens in each of the headrests on the back of the front row. independent connections allow the screens to display different content on each side, and passengers can also mirror android devices onto the screens. a built in wi-fi hotspot and apple carplay and android auto capability are standard on all but the entry-level models.

chevy is putting its over-the-air update system—one similar to the one tesla uses—into the tahoe and suburban. the system was first seen in the 2020 cadillac ct5, which reached showrooms this past summer.
