let's be honest: the completely redesigned, all-new 2020 nissan sentra looks better than anyone expected. and nissan has announced that the base sentra s will start at $20,015, $1200 more than its predecessor, when it goes on sale in january. the pricing tops out at $22,355 for the sentra sr.

nissan simplified the sentra lineup for the 2020 model year. all three trim levels—s, sv, and sr—are equipped with nissan's new naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission (cvt). the new four-cylinder's slightly larger displacement allows for a 20 percent increase in power over the previous 1.8-liter inline-four, up to 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque.

the base-level sentra s wears 16-inch hubcapped steel wheels and comes standard with keyless entry and push-button start. the top two tiers get nissanconnect, which includes apple carplay and android auto capability.

two premium packages are available for each of the upper two trim levels. the sv premium package, which includes led high- and low-beam headlights, an eight-way power driver's seat, a sunroof, 17-inch wheels, quilted leather seats, and heated front seats, will set you back $2460, while the top trim level sr premium package is cheaper at $2170 and adds a bose audio system, prima-tex leatherette seats with orange stitching, a heated steering wheel, and 18-inch wheels.

the nissan safety shield 360 active-safety package is now standard on all sentra models and includes automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning with assist. the 2020 nissan sentra will go on sale at dealers nationwide on january 28, 2020.
