2020 Hyundai Palisade Is a Big SUV Step Up: Video

hyundai is finally moving past a (briefly) confusing naming scheme for its suvs with the 2020 hyundai palisade, revealed at the 2018 los angeles auto show. the three-row palisade replaces the santa fe xl as the south korean automaker's largest suv, and we finally had a chance to check it out at the show.

though the palisade clarifies the positioning of hyundai's suvs — the santa fe, tucson and kona fill out the lineup from largest to smallest — its styling may leave you a little confused. those lights running along the top of the hood are actually led running lights; the headlights sit lower down in a similar fashion to where they are on the santa fe and kona. the lights flank a distinctive grille, which would be the most noticeably sized aspect of the palisade were it not for the vehicle's overall size: up 3 inches in length, 3.6 inches in width, 2.4 inches in height and 4 inches in wheelbase over the outgoing 2019 santa fe xl, the palisade is hyundai's largest suv by a comfortable margin.

inside, visibility is good thanks to tall, upright windows. the second row is available with captain's chairs or a bench, and the chairs push forward with the touch of a button for easy access to the third row. space in the third row is roomy enough for adults, too. family-friendly features include a roof-mounted air ventilation system that uses a diffuser to generate airflow with less noise, seven usb ports and 16 cupholders — and that's just for starters.
