2020 Ford Expedition Adds Off-Road Chops

    ford is now offering its fx4 off-road package on the 2020 expedition limited and xlt trims for those who want to take the seven-passenger suv on some off-road adventures. it'll be available on both the standard wheelbase expedition and the longer wheelbase expedition max.

    standard equipment on the fx4 package include 32-inch all-terrain tires, off-road shocks, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, chrome-plated running boards, and fx4 badges inside and out. there are seven skid plates fitted, one of which is a newly designed sand shield to protect the intercoolers. there are also steel skid plates that guard the steering gear, engine, transmission, and transfer case, along with a separate extra-long skid plate to protect the fuel tank.

    the fx4 expedition is powered by a 375-hp twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter v-6 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission along with a two-speed electronic four-wheel-drive system and a terrain management system. the standard-wheelbase expedition limited fx4 has a 9200-pound towing capacity.

    the fx4 package ($2035) includes a 360-degree camera with split view; there's also a package without the camera that costs $1650 on the lower-level xlt trim. expedition models with the fx4 off-road package are available at dealers now.
