2019 Toyota Yaris Sedan First Look

As the 2018 New York Auto Show kicks off this week, Toyota announces updates to one of the most affordable cars in its lineup. The 2019 Toyota Yaris sedan, formerly called the Yaris iA, receives modest changes as the model line expands to offer three trim levels. The Yaris L represents the sporty choice, while the LE adds a good number of features. The top-of-the-line XLE includes some features rarely associated with economical cars like the Yaris.

Compared to the outgoing model, the 2019 Yaris sedan sports a slightly different grille along with piano black and chrome trim elements. The 106-horsepower 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine remains, and it's still paired with a six-speed manual transmission. A six-speed automatic is available as an option. Low-speed forward collision warning with automatic braking also continues as standard equipment.

The base L trim offers keyless ignition, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen, a rearview camera, and a six-speaker audio system with USB/iPod input and available satellite radio. The LE adds foglights, heated mirrors, a rear trunklid spoiler and keyless entry, while the XLE comes with automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, faux leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and automatic climate control.

Expect to see the 2019 Toyota Yaris sedan in showrooms this fall.
