The extensively redesigned 2018 Toyota Camry is packed with an improved driving experience and a bunch of new technology, but as you might expect, it isn't free. The 2018 Camry's starting price of $24,380, including a destination charge, is $425 more expensive than the outgoing car — and each rung up the Camry trim ladder (L, LE, SE, XLE, XSE, XLE V-6 and XSE V-6) creates a wider gap between the old and new, with as much as a $3,580 increase for an XSE V-6.
The base L, new for 2018, takes the place of the LE as the entry-level Camry and is $425 more than the former base model. That isn't a bad deal considering the newly standard safety suite (Toyota's Safety Sense P), which includes forward collision warning with automatic braking, a high-speed adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.
Pricing isn't available for the redesigned 2018 Honda Accord, but the 2017 version starts at $23,330, while the redesigned 2018 Hyundai Sonata's starting price is $22,935 with destination. The Sonata doesn't include the standard safety features of the Camry, however, and we still have a lot to learn about the new Accord. For 2017, the Accord doesn't have a comparable standard safety suite like the 2018 Camry.
The LE — which has more standard features than the L and the previous LE — is now $24,855, $930 more than the 2017, and comes with a split-folding backseat and power driver's seat the L doesn't. It also features LED headlights, a height-adjustable passenger seat and more that the 2017 LE didn't have.
The SE is the start of the Camry's athletic offerings, with sport-tuned shock absorbers, springs and stabilizer bars, starting at $26,085 ($1,360 more than 2017). The XLE is the Camry's luxurious version, and with a standard four-cylinder Used Engine starts at $29,335; that's $2,140 more than the outgoing model, but it comes with LED headlights, a head-up display and unique interior trim — and on V-6 models, a panoramic glass roof. Add a potent, 301-horsepower, tire-spinning V-6 to the XLE, and the $35,285 starting price is $3,030 more than the 2017.
At the top of Camry mountain is an XSE V-6. Like the SE, it includes numerous mechanical bits to make the Camry a more entertaining experience but with a smooth, refined V-6 Used Engine that pairs perfectly with the rest of the car's improved dynamics. An XSE V-6 is $35,835 — $3,580 more than 2017. See below for the various packages and options that can be added to the Camry.
The Camry Hybrid remains a three-trim model for 2018, available in LE, SE and XLE trim levels. Fuel economy is improved and rated by the EPA up to 51/53/52 mpg city/highway/combined on the LE, while the SE and XLE are rated at 44/47/46 mpg. A 2018 Camry Hybrid is $1,010 more expensive and starts at $28,685, while the SE is $30,385 ($1,505 more expensive) and the top-of-the-line XLE is $33,135 ($2,110 more expensive than 2017).
