Vehicles Affected: Approximately 7,000 model-year 2018 Jeep Compass SUVs

The Problem: Loose fasteners may have inadvertently fallen undetected into a small number of airbag modules during assembly, increasing the risk of an injury in a crash where the front passenger airbag is deployed.

Jeep manufacturer Fiat Chrysler Automobiles said it is unaware of any injuries, accidents, warranty claims or complaints related to the issue.

The Fix: FCA has not yet provided a fix, though customers will be advised when service becomes available.

The automaker advised customers whose vehicles were produced between Sept. 5 and Nov. 19, 2017, to avoid using the front passenger seat until the situation is remedied.

What Owners Should Do: FCA will begin notifying owners this month. Owners can call the automaker at 800-853-1403, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
