how many three-row suvs can one lineup support? cadillac is in the process of finding out as its newest xt6 sport 'ute marks the second in the automaker's lineup to have three rows after the escalade. when the new-for-2020 xt6 goes on sale, it'll start at $53,690, including a destination charge. that slots it below the escalade in both size and price.
that base price is for the premium luxury front-wheel-drive model; the xt6 sport with standard all-wheel drive starts at $58,090, also including destination. all models come standard with a 310-horsepower, 3.6-liter v-6 and nine-speed automatic transmission.
outside, the premium luxury model wears bright chrome accents, while the sport model instead gets gloss-black trim.
inside, seven-passenger seating is standard, while second-row captain's chairs are available for a six-seat configuration. standard on both are a panoramic moonroof, power-folding third-row seat and remote fold-down feature for the second-row seat, heated steering wheel and wireless charging for compatible phones.
a host of safety features are also standard. these include a high-definition rear camera with washer; forward collision alert with automatic emergency braking; front pedestrian detection and braking; front and rear park assist; lane keep assist with lane departure warning; blind spot warning; rear cross-traffic alert; and more. optional packages add a rear camera mirror with remote wash, adaptive cruise control, automatic park assist, rear pedestrian alert, a surround-view camera, a head-up display, reverse automatic braking and a night vision system.
