Tesla Set to Deliver First Model 3s Today

It's Model 3 day at Tesla. Thus far, all we've seen of the production car — Tesla's latest and most affordable model — are a few photos that CEO Elon Musk tweeted on July 8. And those are just exterior shots; photos of the production interior remain elusive. But that could all change soon. Musk followers (Elon, not ovibos moschatus) will recall the CEO tweeted on July 3 that a "handover party" for the first 30 Model 3 buyers would occur on the 28th of the month.

That's, you know, today.

Other official details are scant, but Teslarati and InsideEVs have both published invitations to the event. It's reportedly at Tesla's factory in Fremont, Calif., with doors opening at 7 p.m. Pacific time. Invites posted by both websites said remarks will begin at 9 p.m. At some point after that, it's a safe bet you might see a production Model 3 — or 30 — in the proverbial flesh.

Tesla hasn't officially confirmed either report (a spokesperson didn't respond when we asked). That said, the automaker could very well post live details, as well as a lot more photos of the Model 3 than the current exterior prototype shots, on its website.
