toyota's lineup of off-road-oriented suvs is getting bigger with the debut at the 2019 chicago auto show of the 2020 rav4 trd off-road compact suv and 2020 sequoia trd pro full-size suv. in toyota-speak, the trd off-road line is the automaker's mid-level off-road offering, while the trd pro badge is affixed to its most capable off-road vehicles.
2020 toyota rav4 trd off-road
based on the adventure trim level of the rav4, the trd off-road model builds upon it with unique suspension tuning, different wheels and tires, and special design cues. it gets unique red coil springs, retuned shocks with internal rebound springs and new bump stops. new matte-black 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted with falken wildpeak a/t trail all-terrain tires.
exterior color choices include ruby flare pearl, super white, midnight black, lunar rock and magnetic gray metallic, and the latter three can be matched with an ice edge roof color for a two-tone scheme. dark-gray accents and led foglights are standard. the cabin, meanwhile, gets red accent stitching, red trim, embroidered trd head restraint logos, trd all-weather floormats and a trd cargo mat.
the rav4 trd off-road uses the same 203-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder used engine and eight-speed automatic transmission that goes in other trim levels, but it comes standard with torque-vectoring all-wheel drive and toyota's multi-terrain select, which lets you tailor the drivetrain to driving conditions. it also gets hill start assist and downhill assist controls.

2020 toyota sequoia trd pro
with seating for up to seven, the sequoia trd pro has enough room to bring the whole family on your off-road adventures. it's the first three-row model in the trd pro lineup, which also includes the tundra full-size pickup truck, tacoma mid-size truck and 4runner mid-size suv.
upgrades to the sequoia trd pro include aluminum-bodied fox shocks, different spring rates, a front skid plate and 18-inch bbs forged-aluminum wheels. a new grille trades the toyota logo for the brand name in capital letters, and to either side are led headlights. like other trd pro models, the sequoia trd pro has rigid industries led foglights. color choices include super white, midnight black metallic, magnetic gray metallic and army green, the latter exclusive to the trd pro.
inside, there's black leather-trimmed seats with red stitching, head restraints with an embroidered trd pro logo and trd pro all-weather floormats. convenience features include push-button start, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a power moonroof, tri-zone automatic air conditioning, bluetooth streaming audio, a touchscreen multimedia system with apple carplay and android auto smartphone connectivity, built-in navigation and jbl premium audio.
like other sequoias, the trd pro version is powered by a 381-hp, 5.7-liter v-8 used engine that works with a six-speed automatic transmission. it has low-range four-wheel drive, a locking center differential, an integrated tow hitch and a 7,100-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. a trd cat-back exhaust system is available.
