in late 2018, land rover introduced us to the new 2020 range rover evoque — but the automaker did it in a private ceremony in europe. well, here we are now at the 2019 chicago auto show with the north american debut of the 2020 evoque. it's a little bit longer and a little bit different from the last one — it's got 2.0-liter turbocharged powertrains and a host of really cool new features to help it go off-road.
front to back, the new 2020 range rover evoque is all-new. check out the styling — the best way to describe this really is velar-ified, looking like the range rover velar. it's sleek in that there's a minimum of cladding, you've got really slim led headlights, and you don't see any weird fender strakes or big plastic pieces on the side. the evoque is sleek, it's clean and it's fantastic.
if you take a walk down the side of the evoque, you can see it looks really dramatic. wheels can be had up to 21 inches in size, and look at the ground clearance — those are kind of at odds with each other. you're not going to want to go off-road with 21-inch on-road tires, but you know what? it's got onboard systems so that you certainly can.
there are two possible powertrains with the new 2020 evoque. the standard used engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that makes 246 horsepower and 269 pounds-feet of torque; if you opt for the r-dynamic models, you get a mild-hybrid powertrain — the turbocharged 2.0-liter, but they've bumped up the power and torque to 296 hp and 295 pounds-feet of torque. both are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive, and it can get you just about anywhere you need to go.

just because you've opted for the entry-level evoque doesn't mean that the interior isn't absolutely sumptuous. they've really upgraded things inside — the quality of the leather and the quality of the seats make everything look and feel like a serious premium luxury vehicle.
