nissan's top-selling rogue got a bunch of available safety and convenience tech for 2018, and it's getting even more for 2019. the new rogue is on sale now starting at $25,795, including a $995 destination charge — the same price as the previous model year.
the 2019 rogue again returns in s, sv and sl trims, and all are available with all-wheel drive. the base price is for an s in fwd configuration; awd is an additional $1,350. other trims see a small price bump for 2019: sv prices climb $200 and sl trims get a $210 bump.
newly standard on all models is a host of features previously only offered on higher trims, including lane departure warning with lane change intervention, and high-beam assist; that's in addition to other features like forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning and rear cross-traffic alert that were made standard for the 2017.5 model year.
also newly standard across the board is nissan's rear door alert system, designed to alert the driver that a child — or something else — might have accidently been left in the backseat. the system utilizes door sequence logic, an instrument-panel message alert and multiple horn honks to remind drivers to check the rear seat after the vehicle is parked and the driver exits. nissan recently announced that rear door alert will be standard on many model-year 2019 vehicles and will include all of its four-door trucks, sedans and suvs by model-year 2022.
nissan is also making other safety equipment more widely available for 2019. the propilot assist driver assistance system is now standard on the top sl grade; it was previously optional. rear automatic braking is also newly standard on sv and sl grades.
nissan is bundling six of its active safety and driver assistance features into the safety shield 360 suite, and says it'll be standard equipment on all of its top-selling models by 2021. features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, high-beam assist and rear automatic braking.
the 2019 rogue offers an impressive list of standard and available safety features, matching some competitors and besting others. for 2019, toyota announced the redesigned rav4 will include the toyota safety sense 2.0 package as standard on all models. it includes a forward collision warning system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, lane detection and lane keep assist, as well as a new road sign assist system that identifies road signs and can warn the driver with alerts depending on sign type. prices are not yet out for the 2019 rav4, however.
another main rival, the 2018 honda cr-v, offers a host of similar safety features, but many of them are not standard or available on the base model. the 2018 cr-v starts at $25,245, including destination.
