As a storm threatening 8 to 14 inches of snow moved toward Chicago, the Windy City's annual automotive exhibition — the largest in the U.S. in terms of square footage covered in cars — was just warming up. The media preview was notably light on major debuts, but what it lacked in quantity of exciting unveilings, it made up for in quantity.

Think of the 2018 Chicago Auto Show as your opportunity to check out, well, just about everything you might be shopping for in a new car — but without having to make uncomfortable chitchat with a salesman on the lot. The Chicago show features nearly everything the Editorial team has covered so far this auto-show season in Los Angeles and Detroit — and then some.
Perhaps the biggest bow was by the 2019 Volkswagen Arteon, the all-new sedan's first appearance in North America since debuting in Geneva almost a year ago. The name Arteon is some sort of poetic portmanteau of "art" and "eon," but it could just as easily be called the Audi-on for its resemblance to its luxury-brand counterpart. Other new-model debuts include the 2019 Ford Transit Connect Wagon and the 2019 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid.
Other hot tickets include the 50th anniversary editions of Subaru's entire vehicle lineup — not to mention a couple of crazy, tricked-out, winter-themed project cars from Nissan in the 370Zki and Armada Snow Patrol that look ready for the blizzard blowing into town.
