approximately 4,400 model-year 2014-19 acura ilx sedans

the problem: an improper manufacturing process led to deformities in the bottom of certain fuel tanks that can raise the height of the fuel pump and reduce the clearance between the fuel float and the tank's inner wall. this can cause the fuel float to stick along the inner wall, resulting in inaccurate fuel gauge measurements that could lead to running out of fuel and stalling, increasing the risk of a crash.

acura said it has received no reports of crashes or injuries related to this issue.

the fix: dealers will inspect and replace the fuel tank, as needed, for free.

what owners should do: acura manufacturer honda will begin notifying owners in early march. owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138, the national highway traffic safety administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
