2013-2016 Honda Accord: Recall Alert

2013-2016 Honda Accord: Recall Alert

Approximately 1.15 million model-year 2013-16 Honda Accord cars

The Problem: The case for the battery sensor — part of the battery management system — may allow water to get in, potentially causing an electrical short and increasing the risk of a fire.

The Fix: Dealers will replace the sensor for free. Honda noted that remedy parts are currently unavailable and that dealers will perform an interim repair by applying adhesive to the case to prevent water intrusion.

What Owners Should Do: Honda will begin notifying owners of the interim repair July 31, and a second notice will be sent out once remedy parts become available. Owners can call the automaker at 888-234-2138, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
